Shall the Commissioners of Florence Township Fire District No. 1, in Florence Township, Burlington County have approval for the following proposed Capital Project for the budget year of 2023:
1) Fire Department Extrication Equipment not to exceed $180,000
Explanatory Statement.
Capital project number one replaces extrication equipment used to rescue residents trapped in motor vehicle accidents, building collapse, machinery accidents and residents entrapped in household accidents. Current equipment has exceeded its’ recommended life span as per the manufacturer guidelines. All current rescue tools are over 16 years old and are becoming unreliable during extrications of trapped residents in vehicles with new construction technology and materials used in the manufacturing of automobiles Also, all rescue air bags used to lift objects off trapped residents must be replaced as per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommendations, the air bags are 20 years old and NFPA and manufacturer of the bags requires them to be replaced after 10 years.

1) Purchase a replacement Command Staff Vehicle not to exceed

Explanatory Statement.
he Capital Project is for a Command Staff Vehicle to replace a 2009 used police vehicle the district obtained after the police department retired the vehicle with 118,000 miles. The vehicle currently has 130,000 miles. The last new vehicle the Fire District purchase was in 2009. The vehicle will be used by command staff to respond to emergency incidents, to transport firefighters to training, community education in schools and emergency medical assignments
